The 2010 Silvershotz folio will start
accepting applications from January
1st 2010 and will close on July 30th
2010.
Start preparing your
submissions now.
Who can apply.
Applications can be submitted by
individual artists, their agents or galleries
and public institutions who may want to
promote artists as part of an art/culture
program.
THERE IS NO FEE TO APPLY- BUT THERE
IS A FEE IF SUCCESSFUL.
What do we need?
1. Low resolution images, normal jpg files
at 72dpi. We need a minimum of 10
images to view and a maximum of 15.
DO NOT put your name as an image tag.
It should have a descriptive name ie.
Grand Canyon.
Do not send as a Tiff or
any other file and do not do anything
fancy such as putting them in a Zip
folder or as a bit file embedded in the
email.
Please attach each image as a
jpg to the email.
DO NOT POST US ORIGINAL PRINTS.
2. A CV/ Resume detailing as much about
you as possible. Attach this as a word
document on your CD to save paper and
mailing costs.
Include the following:-
Education, published works, exhibited
works, membership of associations or
professional groups.
Include details
about your history in photography plus
information on your full time career if
you do not earn your major income from
photography.
Include an artist statement.
What is
your philosophy on life and how does it
determine your approach to your
photography?
Do you have a gallery
representing your work or would you
like to ask for representation?
Even though the article about you in the
folio will only have 400 words it helps us
to have as much information about you
as possible to write an effective article.
3. Make sure that on your CV you include
your name, address, country, telephone
numbers, email address and any
websites
4. You can send a maximum of three
different submissions. Each
submission must have a minimum of 10
images and must be themed.

Subject matter
Subjects can be as varied as abstract, still
life, landscape, figure work, portraits,
photo documentary, social commentary
and experimental work. It's all about the
image; just remember that the images
should not be commercial as we are
orientated towards fine art. Please note
that nude figure work is accepted but due
to censorship laws in some countries
avoid full frontal nudes as they will
automatically be disqualified.
Capture & output devices.
The image capture device can be as varied
as film, memory card, paper negatives,
scanners, sensitized materials, lens less
photography or even a wacom tablet.
Output can be as varied as silver gelatine,
alternative processes or inkjet.
What not to do.
1.DO NOT email us links to a URL or
website.
2.DO NOT mix the styles or themes in
your submission.
3.DO NOT forget your name, address,
telephone number on the CV.
Selection Process
Each submission is given a unique
number and placed in a folder so that the
jury panel is presented with images to
select and are not provided with names.
This ensures the judging remains fair and
impartial.
Once the jury panel has
determined their selection, the list is
returned to the editor for tabulation.
This
is a democratic vote and each application
must receive a majority vote by jurors to
be eligible for inclusion in the 2010 list.
In
the case of a tie the editor has the right of
veto.
Successful applicants
Successful applicants will be notified
September 1st 2010.
There is a marketing Fee to cover design,
layout, editing, proofing and promotion.
Applicants must be in a position to pay the
fee if successful. USD$990.00 or £590.00
The Silvershotz folio magazine distributes
and promotes 10,000 copies in 1400
bookstores in 16 countries.
1200 copies
are air mailed free of charge to major
galleries, institutions and picture editors
around the world putting all photographic
artists in the 2010 folio on the world stage.
Scholarships
Full scholarships are available for
emerging artists that are resident in
countries where income levels are low and
would economically disadvantage an
aspiring photographer.
Half scholarships are available for
economically disadvantaged artists,
students, retirees and others living in the
western world.
Please ensure you state
the reasons on your application as to why
you should receive a half scholarship.
