PHOTOGRAPHER PROFILE GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

The following guidelines are specific to this magazine, but as a general rule of thumb if you follow these rules you will increase your acceptance rate with other publishers, galleries and image banks. This is your article and allows you to tell the International Photographic community about yourself, your work and your philosophy.
The magazine does not pay photographers for these articles as we provide you with the opportunity to showcase yourself and add this publication to your resume.
By the same token you do not pay us either.
Projects, books and exhibitions will also be promoted on your behalf as part of the article including your contact details as well as your gallery or agent.

Subjects can be as varied as abstract, still life, landscape, figure work, portraits, photo documentary, social commentary and experimental work. It’s all about the image; just remember that the images should not be commercial as we are orientated towards fine art. The images can be presented as black & white, sepia, hand coloured and colour. The image capture device can be as varied as film, memory card, paper negatives, scanners, sensitized materials, lens less photography or even a wacom tablet. [such as the image on the front cover of this edition]. As a fine art magazine we tend to concentrate on traditional processes such as silver gelatine, general darkroom wet processes, bromoil, cyanotype, platinum, palladium, gum bichromate, salt printing and many other alternative processes. To adjust to recent developments we are now reproducing work printed on Giclee and fine art paper such as Hahnemühle and Crane ink jet acid free rag papers. This list is by no means complete- the type of image capture and output device that are published are at the discretion of the editor.

What not to do!
It is amazing the number of emails we get that say “Hi, check out our website”, or “click on this link to view our images and let me know what you think”. Well, call me old fashioned but I think that approach is lazy and plain bad manners. Secondly the best way to catch a nasty computer virus is to click on a link from an unknown source. So guess what, if we do not know you then this type of email will be immediately deleted.
DO NOT email us links to a URL or website.

What do we need?
• A CD/DVD with low resolution images, normal jpg files at 72dpi. We need a minimum of 40 images to view. DO NOT POST US ORIGINAL PRINTS.
• A CV/ Resume detailing as much about yourself as possible. Attach this as a word document on your CD to save paper and mailing costs. Include the following:- Education, published works, exhibited works, membership of associations or professional groups.
• Details about your history in photography plus information on your full time career if you do not earn your major income from photography.
• Include an artist statement.
• Try and answer some of these questions or provide other details which you think are appropriate so we can write an interesting article for our readers.
• When and how did you become passionate about photography?
• Are you self taught or did you formalise your training?
• What camera and equipment do you use?
• What is your area of speciality?
• What subject matter excites and interests you the most?
• Which photographers have had the greatest influence on your work?
• What has been your greatest achievement so far?
• What is your philosophy on life and how does it determine your approach to your photography? The above information will give us an excellent starting point for the article.

Once we have this information we can then ask you additional questions to flesh out the article. Advise us if there is information you do not want included and conversely any information you expressly want mentioned. Please be sure to give us as much information as possible so we can produce an informative and interesting article.
There is one more very important point and that is your contact details. The number of submissions we receive that just have the name such as John Doe’s images on the CD cover, and no further information.
Ensure that you have your name, address including country, telephone numbers and email. You receive a complimentary copy of the magazine plus a PDF to use for promotion and bulk discount offers if you want to post magazines to targeted buyers/customers of your images.
All submissions are considered and replies given so give it your best shot.
Please note that submissions are not returned. We look forward to working with you to create an informative and interesting article to further the cause of creative Fine Art photography.

Please airmail the CD/DVD directly to the
